As part of the Desjardins Jazz Day series, the Rimouski International Festi Jazz presented by Vidéotron in collaboration with Desjardins is proud to present a performance by Aodi.

Originally named after a husky dog encountered during a northern journey, Aodi is an ensemble bringing together Adèle Levayer (flutes), Philippe Lauzier (bass clarinet), Tom Jacques (vibraphone), Ivan Bamford (drums/percussion), François Landry (guitar/nyckelharpa), Sienna Dahlin (vocals), Héloïse Paradis (violin), and Thomas Gaudet-Asselin (double bass/composition).
Far from being “strict chamber jazz,” their music is essentially rooted in form and attitude, drawing on contemporary approaches such as minimalism, aleatoric music, and especially serialism. It is music of transitions, distance, and engagement.
Their music has something universal in its complex simplicity and, much like serialism itself, is built from a multitude of loops: familiar gestures, habits, and emotional patterns that renew themselves through events arising from chance collisions whenever these cycles intersect.
