Imagine the unlikely offspring of Philippe Katerine and Dalida. It’s impossible to overlook Laura Schembri—her explosive energy and colorful anecdotes leave a lasting impression. Driven by disco and bossa nova rhythms, her songs are like a sweet treat. She loves to explore humor and tell stories through her lyrics. If you’re feeling down, her music will perk you right up!

A 2023 graduate of the École nationale de la chanson, Laura Schembri is an emerging singer-songwriter from Quebec City. Ahead of the release of her debut EP, scheduled for spring 2026, Laura Schembri’s first two tracks, “Disco Serge” and “Elle danse,” are already making waves on the radio and music streaming platforms.

In 2025, the artist won the “Chante en français” and “UQAM en spectacle” competitions, getting the audience to sway to her uplifting songs. That same year, Laura reached the semifinals of the second season of the show Quel Talent!, where she performed five of her original songs before the judges—Marie-Mai, Anne Dorval, Serge Denoncourt, and Rachid Badouri. She received four “yes” votes and praise for her originality, boldness, and lyrical finesse.

Laura has thrown herself headfirst into the music industry, opening for established artists like the Hay Babies and Fredz. She has also performed at St-Roch XP, Québec Pride, UQAM’s back-to-school event, the World March of Women, and Mycélium. Laura Schembri—a force of nature you won’t soon forget.
