Ostara’s artists are leading female musicians, composers and conductors who reflect the geographic, cultural and creative diversity of the Canadian musical landscape. Guest singers join the instrumental group for each project.
Ostara’s self-titled debut album (Cellar Live, 2022) was nominated for a JUNO award in 2023. The band embarked on a highly successful Canadian jazz festival tour in the summer of 2023, performing at nine festivals on large outdoor stages and in sold-out clubs. A tour in March 2024 took the band to the Yukon and British Columbia, including three days at Vancouver’s Warehouse studio to record new material. The forthcoming Ancestor’s Project includes an instrumental album, “Roots”, and a vocal album, “Wings”.
