As part of the Journée en Jazz Desjardins series, the Festi Jazz International de Rimouski, presented by Québecor and in collaboration with Desjardins, is proud to present a performance by Olivier Salazar (piano solo).

Olivier Salazar is a versatile musician based in Montreal, renowned for his expertise as a pianist, keyboardist, vibraphonist, composer, arranger and musical director. With a degree in jazz performance from McGill University and training at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent, he stands out for the richness of his artistic career and the diversity of his collaborations.
Since 2013, he has worked as a freelance musician in Quebec, participating in a multitude of album recordings with renowned artists, including Petula Clark, Jacques Kuba Séguin, La Bottine Souriante, Laurence Castera, The Brooks, Marilyne Léonard, Klaus and many others. He notably contributed to Jacques Kuba Séguin’s album Migrations, which won a Juno Award and a Félix for best jazz album of the year in 2020.
Olivier has been an official member of the legendary group La Bottine Souriante since 2021, with whom he co-arranged the most recent album Domino, winner of a Félix and nominated for a Juno Award. At the same time, he continues his work as leader of the funk-jazz group Razalaz, with whom he has performed at numerous festivals, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, the Juarez Jazz Festival and the Festival de Jazz à Vienne. He was also a member of The Brooks from 2021 to 2024, performing extensively in France and Quebec.
His television credits include En direct de l’univers (Jour de l’an 2025 edition), Je viens vers toi (2025), La Grande Veillée (2024), La Tour (2021) and Microphone (2017). In the film world, he also recorded marimba and vibraphone on Martin Léon’s score for Philippe Falardeau’s My Salinger Year.
His collaborations include artists and groups as varied as Louis-Jean Cormier, Dave Holland, Alaclair Ensemble, Fouki, Jérôme 50, Comment Debord, Le Couleur and many others. His musical approach, at the crossroads of jazz, funk, pop and world music, has made him a key figure on the contemporary Quebec music scene.
