Rimouski, June 6, 2023
From August 31 to September 3, Rimouski will be alive with the rhythms of the 37th Festi Jazz International de Rimouski presented by Québecor. Set against a backdrop of sea air, the downtown area will be the setting for a program that promises to surprise and charm seasoned festival-goers and the more curious alike.
The line-up includes jazz greats such as Emilie-Claire Barlow, The Bad Plus, Alain Caron and Larnell Lewis. The event will sparkle with overlapping sonic influences, from Valaire‘s futon jazz and David Walters‘ danceable tropical soul to Sasha Berliner‘s vibrant jazz. The public is invited to join in the festivities from 5pm on Thursday, August 31. The 2023 edition features a vigorous and inclusive program of over 50 events. The opening concert, presented by Toyota Rimouski, features First Circle – Tribute to the Pat Metheny Group. To close the festival, Québecor presents Lorraine Desmarais Trio – Rimouski Jazz Suite. A work that marries many musical styles and pays tribute in 8 movements to the city of Rimouski.

“Québecor is proud to continue its social commitment by supporting the Festi Jazz International de Rimouski. For 37 years now, this flagship annual event has radiated far beyond the Lower St. Lawrence region, actively participating in the development of Quebec’s cultural milieu and offering a unique and colorful event.” –

What’s new!
This year, Festi Jazz is introducing a new pass. The Explore Pass gives access to all 9 shows in the Éclatée Québecor and Oiseaux de nuit Desjardins series. The festive atmosphere will be enhanced on the main site, with the presentation of the first two concerts in the Grands Spectacles series, under the outdoor big top. What’s more, festival-goers will be able to indulge in the services and products of artisans on site. A dozen or so Jazz Escales have been added to the program, and will take place at various locations around the city, a concept that has proved very popular in the past. A professional networking component, supported by Tourisme Rimouski, will offer industry professionals and artists in the program privileged moments of exchange at a number of events specially planned for this purpose.
A few details and new 2023 elements, still confidential, will be announced over the course of the summer. To make sure you don’t miss any of the announcements, you can subscribe to the newsletter and follow the Festi Jazz Facebook and Instagram pages.
Series for all and improved services for all
As expected, the downtown area will be proudly decked out in Place Festi Jazz Québecor. Shows in the Grands Spectacles, Nuits Jazz Toyota, Éclatée Québecor, Grand Prix de la relève and Journée en jazz series will punctuate the schedule, complemented by DJs and outdoor entertainment. To round off the evenings, the Oiseaux de nuit series returns for a second edition, and welcomes its new presenting partner Desjardins. As for the festival site, it will be set up so that everyone can enjoy the Norea fireplaces, children’s zone, beanbags, food stalls, bar, outdoor stage and entertainment for the whole family, including the Parents-Enfants show presented in collaboration with SNEQ and Alphabet.
Prices and ticketing (taxes and fees included)
